What’s On The Cards For 2015.

As we welcome in 2015, and as many of you know, The ColVelo Collective is now an officially affiliated club with British Cycling. We’d like to thank our regular attendees to the group rides and events to date and we are looking forward to putting on much more of the same with some exciting new events in the year to come.

For those that attended the Christmas Bash at Velo! Cycling & Coffee, you’ll know already that we will be charging a £25.00 annual membership to join ColVelo in 2015 (£10 as a secondary member if you have a primary club in the area). You will also be aware having discussed with both myself and Will that evening that we will open the floor to the membership for ideas for events and rides.

As we speak our diary is being filled with rides and events right through the spring and summer, even into the autumn. We know having a stacked calendar will allow our soon to be members the best chance to fulfil their cycling ambitions for the year, whatever they may be.  Here is a taster of some of the events to come;

Weekend Rides – We at ColVelo have been, and will continue to ride throughout the winter. While we know not everybody enjoys the colder months on the bike, if you do get the desire to dust down your steed and head out for a spin, you can be sure that ColVelo will have a ride you can join. As the winter turns to spring it is our intention (attendance permitting) to run multiple groups over varying distances.Our group rides form the backbone of the club in terms of regular riding and social focus. We’re a friendly bunch and just love to be out riding. Please join us

Touring. Pack your Carradice bag and panniers for a relaxed ride taking in some of the sights and entertainment on offer in the region. It’s not always endless pedalling with hundreds and hundreds of kilometres with ColVelo. We’re busy planning our first spring outing. Who’s in for a Brewery tour? Keep an eye out for dates. Coming soon.

Long Distance Adventures for those who enjoy long days in the saddle covering some of the best terrain in the region. Routes of 243km, 260km, 278km and 425km have already been mapped with dates set. Keep an eye out for these via our social media outlets and website. Details coming soon.

Transit Rides. Having ridden our inaugural transit ride just before Christmas, riding form Colchester to Saxmundham via Aldeburgh for Fish & Chips, we’ll be doing some new and improved variations in 2015. Heading out in one direction rather than looping back to home opens up more terrain, more new places and more great riding. Hop on the train when you’re done and enjoy a cold one as you’re taken home! With a good membership uptake this is the sort of event that we will look to subsidise in the future.

Trips Away and Destination Cycling (Wales & French Alps) – Getting away with your bike is a great way to see new places and challenge yourself. Our first destination cycling trip to north Wales this coming May booked up very quickly. With such good uptake we’ll look to run a second iteration in the autumn. Dates for our French Alps trip are available on the website. Check out the link here or email colvelo@outlook.com for more info

New Kit!! Every cyclist loves a nice kit?! And following some fantastic feedback from those that have seen ours, we’ve had our designs approved by British Cycling and the Orange, Grey and Black of ColVelo is soon to be made available to club members. We’ll leave a window to enable those that wish to pay the ColVelo membership fees, and soon after, make the kit available to members to buy online with collection to follow once the order is processed. So maybe hold out before sprucing up that wardrobe for spring and devouring the winter sales. We’ll have a number of Items available for order. Check out the designs on our webpage and on facebook.

We’re a club with somewhere we call home. – Our ride hub is Velo! Cycling and Coffee which is run by our good pal Rich. This independent little gem in the heart of Colchester is the home of ColVelo with many of our rides and event being run in conjunction with Rich. Look out for a special Paris – Roubaix Event on the day of the pro-race (12th April 2015).Paid up member of ColVelo receive a 10% discount in the shop on goods and stash. (Excluding coffee & cake!). Rich is an excellent mechanic and all of our riders will vouch for his skill and deft touch. What better place to call our home than a cycling Specifics cafe with an excellent onsite mechanic. Between us, we have all of your cycling needs covered.

So it’s fair to say we’ll be packing as much as we can into 2015, and we hope that you’ll choose ColVelo when you’re looking for somewhere to go, or a group to ride with as the season’s rolls on. Your membership will help us meet the fees required to maintain and benefit from the affiliation with British Cycling, help us run and plan more events and rides and also offer up a great new kit at a reasonable price. We’ll be posting how to secure your membership on all our media outlets very soon. For any additional information on events, Travel, plans and ideas mentioned above, please do not hesitate to contact us via email, Facebook or Twitter (details below). We’re waiting to hear from you.

Thanks and regards,

Rob & Will – The ColVelo Collective.
